NATIONAL REGISTER OF DOCKWORKERS – PROVISION OF CARGO HANDLING SERVICES
Until 2011, the occupation of dockworkers was “closed”. Since then, a variety of laws and regulations have been issued, resulting in a complex legal framework governing the exercise of the profession of dockworkers.
A basic condition for the exercise of this occupation is the registration with the National Register of Dockworkers. The latter includes two levels: Register A ‘and Register B’. Register B ‘is subdivided into Register B’ Port dockworkers, Register B ‘Land dockworkers and Register B’ Truck operators license holders. The legal framework sets out the conditions for enrollment in the individual categories of dockworkers.
The freight forwarding sector concerns both individuals interested in working as dockworkers and businesses, as well, wishing to sell their products on their own or providing this service on behalf of third parties.
For a number of years, our office has been dealing with all kinds of issues related to the occupation of dockworker and the provision of related freight services. In particular, we undertake:
The provision of legal services to natural persons who are interested in practicing the profession of dockworkers – truck operators (rights, conditions, required documentation, proceedings, required licenses, insurance)
The registration / renewal with the National Register of Dockworkers of land and port dockworkers and truck operators.
The provision of legal advice to companies that intend to operate in the cargo-handling services in our country’s ports, either on behalf of third parties or for the handling of their own products (establishment-modification of a company, recruitment of employees, insurance of busy freighters, compliance with entry and exit terms) within the ports, observance of hygiene and safety rules in the port areas, etc.)
Τhe judicial support/representation in disputes arising during the exercise of the occupation / activity (application for annulment against a decision to be removed from the National Register of Dockworkers, Appeal against administrative acts concerning the insurance of dockworkers, Appeal against administrative acts relating to the imposition of sanctions in the context of the relevant legal framework etc)
Monitoring of the ever-changing legislation and provision of advisory services to our clients dockworkers / companies in order to more effectively exercise the activity and avoid sanctions.
